One console, three lamps, one wave: the story behind our home page image
The wide image at the top of our home page is a living room wall: a long, light oak console with three lamps on it, a piece of wall art, and in the right-hand corner a side table made of stacked spheres with two candle holders on top. Nothing in it is there by chance. Every piece is one of our products, and each has a reason to be where it is. This is the story of those reasons, along with a few ideas you can use when putting together a wall of your own.
A calm backdrop
It all started with an empty wall. Light grey, almost white, a warm-toned wooden floor and daylight coming in from a side window. We wanted the backdrop to be calm on purpose: colourful, textured objects only show themselves properly against a plain surface. The console was chosen the same way: low, long and light wood. It carries what sits on it without drawing attention to itself.
Three lamps, three characters
Three lamps stand side by side on the console, and no two are alike.
On the left is the orange RETRO. With its pleated shade and short body it has a seventies feel, and it is the brightest colour in the image. In the middle is AURA STONE: with its curved, marble-patterned base and cream shade it is the most composed of the three. On the right is FLORA, switched on; its translucent shade opens like a flower and spreads the light around.
The reason we put the three together is simple: we wanted to show a family rather than a single product. Different shapes, different colours, but the same layer-by-layer making. If you place more than one lamp on the same surface at home, they don’t have to be copies of each other. Lamps of similar height in clearly different colours turn a console into a display. Leaving equal gaps between them and keeping both ends of the console a little empty makes the arrangement look calm.
A wave on the wall
Above the right side of the console hangs NAMI: an orange sky, a white sun and foamy blue waves. We hung it near the right end of the console rather than in the middle. That way the eye starts at the orange lamp on the left, moves to the wall art on the right and on to the side table in the corner. NAMI’s orange sky repeats RETRO’s colour and the white of the waves echoes AURA’s cream; the wall art ties the objects on the console together.
The question we hear most about hanging art is height. The short answer: leave about a hand’s width, roughly 20–25 cm, between the objects on the console and the frame. More detail here: Where and how high to hang wall art.
A side table and two candle holders in the corner
At the right edge of the image stands ORBI, a side table made of beige, pink and lilac spheres. Where the long console ends, it draws a vertical line and closes the picture. On top of it sits the newest piece of the story: the MACARON Candle Holder Set. With their mint, beige, purple and orange rings, the two holders repeat ORBI’s spheres on a small scale; the two products speak the same language.
The holders in the image have candles in them, but that is only an example of use. MACARON is designed as a decorative piece; candles are not included and it is not meant for burning them. Because 3D printed objects can soften above roughly 55–60 °C, flames and hot wax need to stay away from them. For corners that need a warm light, lamps are the better choice.

When evening comes
The same wall also has an evening version; you will see it on the home page in the dark theme. When the daylight fades, all the lamps are on and the mood of the room changes: the lamps form warm pools of light along the console. Thinking about a room both by day and by evening makes it easier to decide which objects carry light and which carry colour. We also have a short guide to lamps and bulbs: Bulbs, use and care for 3D printed lamps.
For your own wall
A few simple ideas to take from this image:
- Keep the backdrop calm. Colourful objects look better against a plain wall and a light surface.
- Pick one colour and repeat it. Ours is orange, moving from lamp to wall art to candle holder.
- Balance the heights. A low console, medium lamps on top, art on the wall and a tall side table in the corner; the eye moves up and down as it travels.
- Build a family. Different products connect through the same material or the same language of form.
